Psalms 119:65 Thou hast deal well with Thy servant O Lord according to Thy word…

Yesterday, I was flying on a plane from Pittsburgh to Denver. During the 3- hour flight, I meditated on Psalms 103. “Bless the Lord O My soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget NOT ONE of His benefits…”

I paused there and started listing the benefits that God has graciously bestowed on me. The following verses in Psalms 103 lists some of these blessings.

“Who forgives ALL your iniquity…” It only took SECONDS to start remembering sin after sin against God that I have committed. I immediately went into a mini-depression… SO MUCH sinning against God! That led me to think on Psalms 40, “Be mindful of Thy mercy O Lord and of thy steadfast love. Let Thy steadfast love and faithfulness ever preserve me… For evils have encompassed me without number, my iniquities have overtaken me till I cannot see, they are more than the hair on my head, my spirit fails me…”

Then the Holy Spirit snapped me back to today’s verse coupled with Psalms 103. “Thou has dealt well with Thy servant O Lord, according to Thy word… Who forgives ALL your iniquity.” God let me dip into the past, to recount my sin, only to remind me that the BLOOD of Jesus, His death, burial and resurrection, His ‘ONCE FOR ALL TIME’ death on the cross paid for my sin IN FULL. I am free. I am forgiven. I stand in righteousness before a Holy God because of Jesus. Hallelujah. “Thou hast deal well with Thy servant…” Thank you for rescuing me from my sin, for forgiving my sin, for pardoning my sin, and for saving me from the wrath of God.

Today’s verse is another conversational prayer. It is a resounding statement of THANKSGIVING. It is an acknowledgement of God, noting His interaction and divine blessing on the life of His servant. The Psalmist is noting this in simple conversation to God.

This led me into counting other blessings. A miracle wife living in an ongoing miracle of healing, three children, my personal health, a house, a job, friends, being part of His family… I was overwhelmed with gratitude for His blessings.

Phil 4:8 says, “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, THINK about these things…”

As I thought on these things, my whole body, racked with fatigue from a long ministry trip, was energized. Take some time today and reflect on how God has ‘dealt well with you according to His word…”
