John 14: 13,14 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
I woke this morning and immediately got down on my knees beside my bed and recited this verse. This is an amazing verse… the kind of verse that is truly a ‘blank check’. Jesus, the Creator of the universe, things both visible and invisible is saying, “Whatever you ask… and if you ask ANYTHING in my name…” What a promise to claim!
Father, I pray today and dedicate my body to you. I dedicate my thoughts to you and I give you my feelings. I give you my loins, I give you my eyes and my heart, and I give you my strength. I dedicate all of me to You today. Please accept my offering of self.
Father, please remove every memory of past sinful acts. Please remove all memories of sin and please remove my mind and body’s collective memory of any pleasure associated with those sins.
Please bind the Evil One, the Accuser and hater of my soul from his attacks. Please help me to be alert to every evil suggestion that he plants in my brain. Please give me the strength to withstand and to keep withstanding, claiming your promises and relying on your strength.
Father, please give me a heart of faith, to believe the promises that you graciously give to me and to all your children. You said, “Let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God, believe also in me…” Father, I believe, please help me in my unbelief. I fear future failure. I fear future weakness. Help me to trust you for the future and to not worry about tomorrow. Please give me the strength today to walk wholeheartedly before you.
You said, “The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear you.” Lord, please increase my awareness of you AND increase my ‘fear of the Lord’. Help me to live in the constant awareness of your presence and your watchful eye. As David prayed, ‘Preserve me O God for in Thee do I take refuge.’ “Help me, save me, and guard me.” “Do Thou ever O Lord preserve me, and guard us ever from this generation. On every side the wicked prowl as vileness is exalted amongst the sons of men.”
Father, please help me to set my affections on You and on things above. “Turn my eyes from looking at vanities.” Help the arc of my life to be one of fascination with you, praise and worship of You. Help me to ‘set my mind on the Spirit’ and not on things of the flesh. Please alert me when I am making plans to ‘gratify the desires of the flesh’ and help me to stop the planning and to ‘crucify my fleshly desires’.
Lord, You promised that ‘whatever I ask…You would do it.’ These are my requests this day.

Hey Bob,
I just wanted to thank you for this prayer, and everything else you do for us.
This prayer has really encouraged me and has helped me endure for a few weeks now.
Your book and this blog has been one of my key resources and outlets, when I have been struggling, or when I have questions. I will continue to remember you and your family in my prayers. I know that the Lord will return all you do for me and other with blessings and righteousness. Thanks again!

The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”

P.S. I was interested in doing a summer training program, and I was wondering which one in your opinion is the best, or which one can I do to hang out with you for a summer?
Dear Samuel,
THANKS for the encouragement and taking the time to write.
The best training program that I know of is the Navigators Spirit West Coast Summer Missions Program. Cost is $250 for 9 days, and includes food and camping site and entrance into the SWC Music festivals. It is an excellent program to help develop young men in discipleship training and character development. It starts the last Saturday in July and runs through the 7 August. Hope you can attend
