Psalms 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in Thy commandments…
This is another GREAT prayer request. TEACH ME GOOD JUDGMENT and knowledge. I am currently attending a conference in Colorado Springs on Moral Purity. The speaker made the comment, “We are all just ONE BAD DECISION away from STUPID…”
I think of a person in a fast food restaurant that starts to choke. His friend asks the employee behind the counter for use of a phone to dial 911 and the request is denied. Company policy denies use of the company phone. The friend die… the employee is fired… bad PR for the company… ONE BAD DECISION away from stupid…
An employee at a store sees a woman breastfeeding and tells her to stop, that it is against company policy… The next thing you know, it hits the Internet and hundreds of breastfeeding moms descend upon the store amidst much negative publicity. It becomes a public relations nightmare and the store is nationally embarrassed. ONE BAD DECISION away from stupid…
An old coach is told that a boy is being raped in the showers and tells the wrong people about it. The police are not called and years later, he dies in shame when this lapse of judgment is discovered. ONE BAD DECISION away from stupid…
Today’s prayer request is simple. It is an appeal to God to be taught GOOD JUDGMENT. Teach me to make wise decisions. Teach me and guard me away from stupid decisions. WHY…. For I believe in Thy commandments.
All good decisions involve an acknowledgement of God’s Word, His principles, His testimonies and His commandments. When we BELIEVE in His commandments, they will take priority in our lives. We will not only know them, but we will think about them. Then, we will see to apply them to our lives. By obeying God’s commandments, teachings and principles, they will lead us toward good judgment.
The two greatest commandments according to Jesus were to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength” and the second was to “love your neighbor as yourself…” ALL of the law and commandments rest on these two great commandments.
God, please help us to love You wholeheartedly. Help us to love the people around us like we want to be loved, and like You love them. May our commitment to obey these two commandments guide us toward good judgment and excellent decision-making. Keep us from STUPID…
